The two images I have chosen are from two different locations. The first one is from Florence, Italy and the second is from Venice, Italy. Although they maybe from two different locations they use the same use of media to convey a message from the Catholic Church. Both images have an iconic figure of the Catholic Church with angels surrounding them. One is Jesus and the second looks to be Mary. Both images also seem to have a second part of the image with the bottom representing how the society was at the time of the creation of the painting. The Catholic Church is able to use this sort of media to convey important messages such as the goodness in society while in contrast also present how the bad society can also be. I chose to reflect on these images because they are both examples of a Gregor Goethal painting in the way that it is using art to present a political statement of belief. They are both using this type of media to let the audience negotiate the meaning but overall it has an underlying interest.
